Introduction
Tribus Interior Design was built on years of experience, trusted relationships, and a passion for creating spaces that are both beautiful and highly functional.
Susan Vernon, President and Principal of Tribus Interior Design, discovered her passion for the industry early in life while growing up with her father, a builder. That foundation led her to Dillard-Jones Builders, where she spent years honing her expertise in client selections and the interior design aspects of custom homebuilding, playing an integral role in helping homeowners bring their vision to life during a period of tremendous growth in the industry.
That experience ultimately led to the launch of Tribus Interior Design in 2017 — a studio rooted in collaboration, thoughtful design, and a deep understanding of how people want to live in their spaces. Since opening, the firm has grown to serve custom builders, renovation projects, and independent residential and commercial clients across the Carolinas and beyond.
Today, Susan’s experience and long-standing relationships within the industry continue to shape the foundation of Tribus. The team believes great design is never just about appearances or the current trends, it’s about creating environments that feel intentional, comfortable, and lasting. Every project is approached with a balance of creativity, practicality, and personal connection, resulting in spaces that feel refined without sacrificing warmth or livability.

Ariel loves seeing her clients’ excitement when a design comes to life. She enjoys guiding clients through the design process and creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional while making the journey seamless from concept to completion. Ariel earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Design from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she also minored in Art History and competed on the UMass Equestrian Team. After graduating, she moved to South Carolina to pursue her design career and quickly fell in love with the Lowcountry lifestyle. Outside of work, Ariel enjoys riding horses, walking her dachshunds Daphne and Henry, traveling, and exploring Charleston’s incredible food scene.
Kathleen Pratt
Interior Designer, NCIDQ
Classically trained with a lifelong love of design, Kathleen’s background spans from creating vision board collages for her bedroom to graduating from Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture. With 13 years of experience, she creates spaces that are thoughtful, functional, and beautifully tailored to the people who live in them. Now NCIDQ certified, Kathleen blends form with function in every project she collaborates on and brings a detail-forward approach to her work. She feels just as comfortable on the jobsite as she does exploring the Lowcountry by boat with her husband and two little girls. In her “spare” time, you might find her experimenting with new styles of painting, taking a ballet class, or better yet trading high intensity workouts for queso and ice cream cones!
